Take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway from the Chino Canyon up into the mountains for some hiking along picturesque trails that vary in difficulty levels.

This hiking tour is customized to your desires. The tour guides will provide entertaining commentary for your tour as they are experts in local geology, plants and animal life. So, feel free to ask questions and enjoy the natural beauty that will surround you.

Mt. San Jacinto State Park offers 54 miles of hiking trails located within a 14,000-acre pristine wilderness. All hiking trails are accessed by exiting the Tram's Mountain Station and descending a concrete pathway approximately .3 miles to Long Valley.

Summary: 48 HOURS MINIMUM ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED. Tour includes pickup from most hotels and resorts located east of Palm Springs in the Greater Palm Desert Area. Child ages are 13 and under. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 888-301-6561. There is a $3.95 processing fee per order. This is a flat fee regardless of the number of tickets or tours purchased on an order.
There is a service charge per ticket. This charge will be reflected on your summary before you checkout. The total shown includes any and all taxes, fuel surcharges, and service fees. There are no additional charges.

Cancellation Policy: There are no refunds. All sales are final.

Change Fee Policy: If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.

Among the trails you can hike are Long Valley Discovery Trail, Desert View Trail, Round Valley, Wellmans Divide and San Jacinto Peak.

Long Valley Discovery Trail follows nature trail posts around a 3/4 mile loop. It's an easy level trail that provides an excellent introduction to the park's plants and animals.

The Desert View Trail is a 1.5 mile trek that leads to a number of scenic overlooks and forest views. Has several short climbs and is moderately strenuous.

The Round Valley trail is a 2.5 mile trek that leads to the beautiful Round Valley. Contains a number of short climbs and is moderately strenuous.

Wellmans Divide is a one-mile hike from Round Valley that consists of a 600-feet elevation gain. Offers spectacular views of the Palomar Observatory and the Tahquitz Peak Lookout. With the elevation gain, this trail is considered to be strenuous.

San Jacinto Peak trail is a strenuous three- to four-hour hike one way that leads to the second highest point in Southern California.

Important Notes
~ For your comfort, ALWAYS wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes; layered, comfortable clothing; a hat; and sunscreen. A light jacket in spring and early summer and a heavy jacket and gloves during fall and winter are recommended.
~ Wear appropriate, waterproof shoes.
~ Stay on designated trails only.
~ No smoking is permitted on trails.
~ All plants and animal life are protected by state and federal laws. DO NOT remove or disturb them.

Palm Desert is about 15 miles from Palm Springs.
